Nicky Williams is a graduate of the University of Portsmouth with a B.Sc in Psychology. Nicky has been with Cobham Lacrosse Club since its inception. She attended the first ever Cobham taster session as a young player aged 13 - and that is where her lacrosse career began, since she attended a non-lacrosse playing state school. After a year of playing lacrosse with the club Nicky won a place on the Surrey County Lacrosse squad, the first player from a state school to obtain a place within the Surrey team. Energised by this, Nicky put forward a request to Elmbridge Council to award Cobham a grant to fund coaching within local state schools. This request was accepted, and both Nicky and the club were delighted to be able to offer outreach coaching in local schools..
Nicky has been a fully qualified junior coach since age 15 and has coached for Cobham since then. At Cobham she progressed to become a Senior Coach and has recently acquired the English Lacrosse Association Level 2 Coaching qualification and Level 1 Umpiring qualification. Nicky has played for several different ladies teams throughout her lacrosse career including Putney, Cobham and the University of Portsmouth. She says, however, her first love now is coaching and passing on her enthusiasm for the game to young players.
